IMPOUND SERVICES

An impound means to take and hold a vehicle in legal custody. Here at Action Towing, we provide two different types of impounds;

Public Impounds
These vehicles are impounded under the direction of a law enforcement officer or by a public official having jurisdiction over the public property upon which the vehicle is located.
Private Impounds
These vehicles are impounded under the direction of a person having control or possession of the private property upon which the vehicle is located.
RCW 46.55.010, section 14 reads, “Unauthorized vehicle” means a vehicle that is subject to impoundment after being left unattended in one of the following public or private locations for the indicated period of time:

If you have a non-residential piece of property that you’d like our signs posted on, call our office today! We will have an operator come post signs where they need to be legally. Once you have our signs posted at each entrance of the property, all unauthorized vehicles can be impounded immediately.
Public Impounds
These vehicles are impounded under the direction of a law enforcement officer or by a public official having jurisdiction over the public property upon which the vehicle is located.

These vehicles are impounded under the direction of a person having control or possession of the private property upon which the vehicle is located.

SUBJECT TO REMOVAL AFTER:

(a)
Public locations:
(i)
Constituting an accident or a traffic hazard as

defined in RCW 46.55.113 Can be towed Immediately
(ii)
On a highway and tagged as described in RCW

46.55.085-24 hours
(iii)
In a publicly owned or controlled parking

facility, properly posted under RCW

46.55.070 -Can be towed immediately
(iv)
During the 2021-2023 fiscal biennium, within the right-of-way used by a regional transit authority for high capacity transportation where the vehicle constitutes an obstruction to the operation of high capacity transportation vehicles or

jeopardizes public safety- Can be towed Immediately
(b)
Private locations:
(i)
On residential property- Can be towed Immediately
(ii)
On private, nonresidential property,

properly posted under RCW

46.55.070 -Can be towed immediately
(iii)
On private, nonresidential property,

not posted-Must wait 24 hours

IMPOUND FAQ'S

Can you come tow a vehicle parked in my spot at my apartment complex?

No. You must contact the apartment office. If your apartment office is closed, we suggest you take some photos of the vehicle IF it is safe to do so and contact them as soon as they open.

This vehicle is parked in front of my house and none of my neighbors know who it belongs to. Can you come tow it?

No. They are parked on a public street and therefore you need to call 311 and advise them the vehicle has been abandoned.

Someone parked on my property, and I don’t know who it belongs to. Can you come tow it?

Yes, IF you are the property owner AND the vehicle is 100% on your property.
